Hello, everyone. Did you know that yesterday was the day with the longest night for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere? I do not mind, because we felines have plenty of light to see. Even when all of the lights are out, there is enough residual light for Jacey, Marley, and me to get around. The human on the other hand? Well, let’s just say that it is a source of amusement for us.
Unfortunately, my blood sugar readings this week were not amusing for either me or the human. We had done so well last week and this week was disappointing. My blood sugar readings for the week averaged 255. That is significantly higher than the 221 we saw last week. It is also high enough that it’s a concern if my blood sugar readings remain that high for a long period of time.
The low reading for the week was 197 which was fine. But the high was 300, which I did not like.
I do not know why this is happening. Activity wise, I am much more active than I have been in the past. Jacey used to be the one who would run outside on the balcony as soon as the human opened the door. Now it is me! And in the morning, both Jacey and I hop onto the bed and snuggle next to the human until he must wake up.
The human is confused as well. He increased my dosing, but my blood sugar readings continue to remain stubbornly high. He is going to see what happens over the next month or so and see if that helps reduce my blood sugar levels.
It is frustrating for me and the human to see this continue, but there is not much we can do! We have to continue to treat my diabetes, and see if we can get my blood sugar levels to lower. I know he will keep trying, and I do not fuss too much when he does.
