Hello, furiends. It is time for me to give you an update on my blood sugar readings. Diabetic cats like me must monitor our readings so that we avoid our blood sugar going too high or too low.
Last week, I told you the human and I were starting to get concerned about my blood sugar readings because they were starting to climb higher than I wanted. I was hoping that we would get them under control.
That sadly did not happen, and my blood sugar readings actually went up a little from last week. For the week, they averaged 258. That is a little higher than the 253 we saw last week, which also did not make me happy. The human and I would like to see my blood sugar readings average below 200.
I do not like to go to the humans in white coats, but, my furiends, I think I may have to. It is time for me to have a check up anyway, and when I go, the human and I will have to talk to the white coated human about what we can do.
One of the things I will ask about is whether I should switch types of insulin. The human’s parents have a diabetic cat, too. He is on a different type of insulin, and he is consistently seeing blood sugar readings slightly below 100. I would love to see this, so the human and I will see if the white coated human recommends doing this.
Do not worry about me, my furiends. I am a happy and playful cat despite my blood sugar levels being higher than I like. I have a human who I love and I know he loves me. And I know that so many of you humans are pulling for me. That means more to me than any silly blood sugar reading.
