Two Special Cats Need Our Healing Thoughts

It is always sad for me when my fellow felines get sick or injured.  As a diabetic cat, I get especially worried when a fellow special needs cat gets sick.  Today I am sharing the stories of two very special cats who need your healing thoughts.

Bagheera the Diabetic Cat Sends Mayor Stubbs Healing ThoughtsI am sure you remember the story of Stubbs, the cat who is the mayor of a small town in Alaska named Talkeetna.  He was attacked by a dog, and he almost lost his life in the attack.  A human in a white coat was with him during the car ride to the clinic where he was treated, just in case his condition deteriorated and he needed to leave us.

Stubbs was treated and is recovering, but he is an older cat. The severity of his injuries and his age have combined to slow down his recovery.  His human wrote on his Facebook page that Stubbs had experienced a number of setbacks and that he has not recovered as quickly as hoped.  Stubbs has to remain immobile for much of the day to help him recover, and the recovery process is draining on him.

Stubbs is a tough cat and a fighter, or he never would have survived the attack by the dog.  But he can use our healing thoughts right now.  I am sure both he and his human would like it if you went to his Facebook page and sent him healing wishes.

There’s another very special cat who could use your healing thoughts.  His name is Darky, and he is not as famous as Stubbs.  But he has the same fighting spirit or he wouldn’t have made it this far.

Darky is a special needs cat with not just one, but two conditions that are far more challenging than what I face as a diabetic cat.  Not only does Darky have FIV, but he also has feline leukemia.  The humans in white coats said that one humane option for Darky would have been to give him that last injection so that he could leave us peacefully.

But because Darky was still eating, drinking, and using the litter box, his humans decided to treat him with intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and pain medications so that he can enjoy the time he has left before the sad and inevitable end.Bagheera the Diabetic Cat Sends Healing Thoughts to Darky

Recently, Darky developed a fever, and he stopped eating and using the litter box.  But he is being treated for that fever, and his humans are hopeful that he will recover.  He started using the litter box again, so that is good news.

In addition to your healing thoughts, Darky’s humans could use some help with the bills they have run up at the humans in white coats.  You can call Staunton River Vet Clinic at 540-297-1000 and tell them that you want to give green paper things to help pay for Darky’s treatment.

I send healing thoughts to both of these felines, and hope you will too!
