I know that all of you reading this hate animal abuse and do not like humans who commit those cruel acts. Jacey, Marley and I are lucky to have a human whose meanest act towards us is to tell us to “be quiet” when we finally exasperate him with our talking. Jacey actually does this as a game! She will talk, talk, talk, talk and when the human finally gets annoyed and says “Jacey, be quiet” she will run to the other side of our home.
More than three years ago, a cruel human did much more than that. One of the humans in white coats reported that a feline named Gabriella was being abused. The humans in badges took this seriously, and after investigating, a warrant was issued for the animal abuser’s arrest.
The evil human’s abuse resulted in severe injuries for Gabriela. She had seven fractured ribs. Both of her back legs were broken. Her spine had two fractures. And she had a large contusion over her frontal lobe from being repeatedly punched in the face and a hemorrhage in the white of her eye.
Recently, this cruel human was arraigned on domestic violence and animal abuse charges. The animal abuse charge this evil human is facing can be punished by up to four years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
I do not know what will happen to the cruel person who did this to one of my fellow felines. Humans in robes will decide that. But there is a petition that you can sign to ask for the maximum sentence.
More importantly, this story shows how one good human caring enough to try to stop animal abuse can help. Furiends, one white coated human helped the humans in badges catch this man. And the feline who endured this abuse, now known as Liv, is alive and doing well because of this.
Sometimes, one person is all it takes to bring an animal abuser to justice. I hope that if you have a chance, you will be that one human.
