September 25 Blood Sugar Readings

Hello, everyone! It is time for me to tell you about my blood sugar readings for the week. It has been very hot over the past few days. Before we moved into the home where we like now, that would likely have caused my blood sugar levels to go up. The human tells me we do not have to worry about that as much now because we have something called air conditioning in our home.

Another thing that helps keep things cool around the home is the way Koji is acting around Jacey. Do not get me wrong, he still annoys her. But now, instead of pouncing on her and trying to play, he will slowly approach her and if she tells him to stop, he will back away. And Jacey is getting better, too. Koji has to be very close to her for her to get angry at him.

Koji is acting better with me, too. He still ambushes me, and I yell at him for doing it. But he has learned to stop play fighting with me before it gets too serious. The human does not need to step in to shoo him away from me anymore.

All of this did not seem to have much of an effect on my blood sugar levels. For the week, they averaged 208. That is down from last week’s reading of 216, but the difference is small enough to be just normal fluctuations in my blood sugar.

These blood sugar readings are a little higher than we want them to be. Ideally, we would see my blood sugar levels averaging between 150 and 200. Now, I know you will say that the difference between 200 and 208 is not much. You are smart humans for saying that, but we would still like to see them a little lower.

Hopefully, that is the news I will share with you next week when I tell you about my blood sugar levels.

Jacey, Koji and I Have Been Doing This Lately

Yesterday was a rainy, windy, and grey day so Jacey, Koji, and I could not work on our fur tans. We did not like this. Sadly, it looks like it will be the same way today. This is not good, but the human says we need the rain so I suppose we can tolerate this.

I suppose that it is only fitting that it is not a nice and sunny day outside because right now, my blood sugar readings are not making me happy, either.

We like to keep my blood sugar readings averaging below 200. That has been happening for the past few weeks, and last week, they averaged 196. This week, unfortunately, the average of my blood sugar readings was 231.

While this is still below the threshold where dangerous side effects can occur over the long term, it is closer to that level than we like. The human and I are puzzled as to how this happened. I am not nomming more than I normally do, and with a third feline in the home nomming on the same food, you would think my blood sugar levels would go down because I would not get as much to eat.

Clearly, that is not the case. But blood sugar levels can fluctuate dramatically for reasons unknown to us, and I am hopeful that is what is going on here.

Obviously the higher levels are a concern, and we will talk to the humans in white coats about them if they continue to remain elevated. But the human will work very hard to get them where we want them to be, and I am hopeful that will happen.

Who knows, once Koji and I get to know each other better and we start to play with each other more, maybe the extra exercise will help me!

I will update you on my blood sugar readings next week, and I hope they will be better!

I Did This With the Human's Hockey Stick

Hello, furiends. Koji has been here for about three weeks now, and we definitely have had a few arguments. Jacey is getting taste of her own medicine now, because he plays the ambush game with her. She does not like it. But because Koji is so much bigger than her, she gets very annoyed and upset when he does this.

I cannot let her get upset, so I have to step in to let Koji know he cannot do this. We mostly shout at each other. Well, actually, I do most of the shouting. But one time, Koji and I got into a scrap and the human had to use his hockey stick to separate us. After we were separated, I was still growling and angry. I hit the hockey stick many times to get my anger out.

The human is glad that he did not use his arm to separate me and Koji when we were arguing, because it would have been very bad for him!

I do not have as many blood sugar readings this week as we normally have. The human did not have the testing strips he needed in order to examine my blood sugar. It is okay, though. I just got my normal dose at my regular times.

The blood sugar readings we were able to take averaged 196. This is higher than what we saw last week, but it is still below the threshold where dangerous things happen if my glucose stays there for a long time. We are not concerned about this, especially with so few readings this week.

I will tell you all about my blood sugar readings, this time with a full set of readings, next week around this time. I am hopeful that I will also have good news about Koji and how he is settling in!
